About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Travelling from Hong Kong to Hainan

Hello,
I am a bit confused about the differences between the VOA and the Visa Free situation.
From contacting some travel agencies, they made me feel as if the visa free option, by going through the travel agency was the only available option currently.
However, I have also seen reports of people entering Hainan without any need for a travel agency.

If I travel from Hong Kong (where I will be residing as a tourist), to Hainan, will I need to go trough a travel agency for the visa free travel? Or can I simply get the visa on arrival at the airport, without the need for a travel agency?

I am an Irish citizen, with two previous Chinese visas in my passport, if that makes any difference.

The official documents just require registering a travel agency. However, according to recent feedback, it seems providing flight tickets and hotel orders are enough.

Hi Joseph.

I’m Irish too, though using British passport. Think it’s the exact same process as I commented below, you don’t need to use any travel agency. Just present your itinerary and fill out the form on arrival at Haikou. You’ll be given a 30 day visa stamp.
