About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong to Shenzen in 1 day

We’re planning to visit Shenzen from Hong Kong then back to Hong Kong within the same day. We have Indonesian passport but no previous Chinese visa. Can we get the 24-hour visa exemption? Or do we have to say we travel from Hong Kong to Shenzen to Macau instead? What proof of the next travel destination will be required?

It is correct that Indonesian citizens with previous (old - expired) Chinese visas are perfectly eligible for a 5 day Shenzhen visa, but I am not exactly certain if those without previous Chinese visas are eligible too. There are some information that go in favor that even those Indonesians without previous Chinese visas are eligible too, but this is something I cannot confirm. In any case, if you appear at the border crossing, I would say that your chances to be granted a Shenzhen visa are very good.

By the way, it is not possible to make a transit in the way as you have described. The only available transit is by air from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and from there also by air to a third country. Those who can exit Guangdong province overland or by ferry are only those eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.
