Malaysian passport holder residing in Hong Kong - can I apply for a VOA?

I am currently a Malaysian passport holder working in Hong Kong and I'm thinking of going over to Shenzhen for a day. I have applied for Chinese visas previously too. Will I be able to apply for VOA at Shekou Port?

Nominally, the situation with Malaysian citizens and their ability to obtain a Shenzhen VOA was always so volatile. In other words, I am not exactly certain about the current practice, but I would say that if you can present old Chinese visas in your current or old passport, you will be able to be issued a Shenzhen VOA especially by arriving at Shekou port by ferry. So, if you decide to do this, just bring a proof of your old Chinese visas and keep in mind about the visa office opening hours at Shekou port: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30.
