Long-term tourist visa
What are the regulations for a long-term (2, 5 or 10 year) tourist visa? Are they only available to specific nationalities? Does it depend on previous travel activity to China? (Note: specifically 2, 5 or 10 year visas; not 1-year or less).
I am a foreign resident in Taiwan but have lived and studied in China before. Applying for a Chinese visa in Taiwan is a bit tricky and I would like to see if I can apply to a long-term tourist visa abroad so that when I go back to Taiwan I can just hop on a flight whenever I desire to visit friends in the mainland. This way, I don't need to worry about applying for the three month visa that is usually given, which from Taiwan is tricky to apply as it involves an agency in HK (pre-covid, don't even know how it is now).
A quick glance through online information available on the matter was a bit confusing as it was not consistent all throughout from websites an even different Chinese consulates and china visa centres, leaving me to think that that the visa validity period might be at the discretion of the consular officer, yet this is just my own subjective speculation.
Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
