About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Obtain visa while traveling

I am a US citizen and will be traveling abroad for a year. I would like to visit China but it would be 8 months in to my trip (too far for me to apply for a visa while I am still in the US). What is the best way for me to get a visa while I am abroad? Would I need to travel to Hong Kong or Macau?

In actual life, it is not easy to obtain a China visa in a third country or region, especially when one is just traveling there for a short period of time. But it is not always the case. There were someone indeed getting it outside their home country and HK is a better place to do that.

I also suggest you to learn the China 144-hour visa free transit policy which may be helpful to you.
