About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Melbounre to Taipei (via Xiamen)

Hello - I am flying to Melbourne to Taipei via Xiamen.

Melbourne - Xiamen (13 hour stop over) - Taipei

Do I require a 144 hour transit visa or will I be allowed entry via 24 visa free transit?

Also are citizens of Australia currently required to have a PCR test before transiting in China or is a RAT test enough?

Since your stop over is just 13 hours long, you are definitely eligible for 24 hours visa free transit in Xiamen and you do not need any kind of visa. You can also, if you want, apply for a temporary entry permit upon arrival to visit/explore Xiamen for a short time.

You will need a PCR or RAT test that should not be older than 48 hours at the time of boarding your China bound flight. Also, you are strongly advised to have your test in hard copy.
