Luggage limits for Hong Kong trains

We plan to catch an international flight from Hong Kong airport, but will be traveling from Guangzhou. We are not able to connect via SkyPier. Is it possible to bring two large suitcases, plus two small carry on bags on the bullet trains or through trains from Guangzhou to Hong Kong? If not, what's the best option for transfer from Guangzhou to HK airport with luggage?

Yes, it's allowed. I often travel with one large suitcase and a knapsack by train from my workplace to my hometown. If you don't know where to put them onboard, ask help from the train attendant.
