Q2 application partner of mother of resident in china

My partner and I are applying for a Q2 visa for entry to China. My partner’s daughter lives and works in China and we are planning to stay with her for the duration of our holiday (2 weeks). She has produced an invitation letter and proof of Chinese residency etc. to support our application.
My question is concerning myself. I am not the birth father and my partner and I are not married. The birth father is deceased. Am I likely to be accepted for a Q2 when travelling with my partner?

First of all, only when the daughter of your partner has a permanent residence permit (someone calls it Chinese green card), you can appy for the Q type. If not, you are more suitable for the S type. Apply together with your partner and it's likely for you to get it. Good luck~

Many thanks for the response Kelly. I am going to the centre on Monday. I realise now I should have applied for S2. Presumably they will change it at the centre if they allow me in.

Thanks Kelly, my partner was granted a visa no problem but I was asked to submit further information to prove we were in a long term relationship. The service centre were unable to agree it so it went to the embassy for a decision. They eventually agreed it and issued the visa on friday and we travel tomorrow. Phew!! All somewhat academic now the L visa has been reinstated
