China domestic travel without passport

I'm currently living in Tianjin, and will like to go to beijing to apply for visa at a european country's embassy. But my passport will be taken by the embassy in order to process my visa. does any one know how i can go back to tianjin without my passport?

You can also travel with other ID certificates, like your China resident permit. Or apply for a temporary ID certificate; maybe at the railway station police station in Tianjin before leaving for Beijing.
