About:Requirements for China Green Card (Permanent Residence Permit)

PR - non criminal record

Proof of no criminal record abroad recognized by Chinese embassies or consulate offices.

Does this point equate to having a non criminal record authenticated and certified at the chinese embassy at my home country or in the case were am in China, could I have my embassy issue a record and authenticate ?
Am a little confused on the word "recognized by the Chinese embassy".
Also any idea regarding the validity period of the record ??

Regards.

The record should be authenticated and certified at the chinese embassy at your home country. The validity period is usually 6 months.
