Transfer residence permit to Q1 visa

Hello. I am currently on a residence permit working in a school in Guangzhou. My residence permit expires June 30th and I want to convert to a Q1 visa. I am married to a local in China. My visa agent says I will need a release letter/work permit cancellation letter to apply for Q1. My company said they won't givee these letters until the end of the semester. Can I apply for the Q1 visa without these documents?

I'm afraid no. The current solution is: apply for a temporary visa before the residence permit going expire; after you get all the documents, change the temporary visa to a Q1 type.
