About:Marriage Registration in China

1 year tourist ( L ) visa after marriage

Hello , there is some information circulating online stating that if a foreigner marries a Chinese citizen , the foreign spouse is entitled to 1 year tourist ( L ) Visa given in China . All of this apparently happens instantly if the spouse presents himself at some kind of local Bureau with the marriage document, passport ,police residency registration and the Chinese spouse's ID card . Is this true ?

I'm afraid it's not true. The spouse of Chinese can apply for Q visa and the Q1 type is valid for as short as one year and as long as 5 years. But the application requirements are the same as you listed.
