About:China Family Reunion Visa

Q2 visa run

Local authorities have been renewing my Q2 residence permit without requiring me to leave the country for over a year due to the pandemic restrictions not allowing re-entry. However, they have said they probably can't get approval again.

In the past I understood that I could visit Hong Kong and return and reset the 120 day stay. Is that still a viable option?

I'm afraid no. Presently, only foreigners holding valid Chinese residence permits for work, private affairs and reunion are allowed to enter China. Q2 is not a residence permit, so you cannot enter China with it.
