About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

I am from Melbourne Australia

I want to meet my girlfriend who lives in Shanghai, she's Chinese so how do I apply for visa to stay longer because I want to be with her for longer time?
Does she need to invite me to get a longer stay Visa?
