Applying Temporary Residence Permit for Spouse (No Employment contract or student)

My spouse is a Chinese citizen. Can I get approved for the temporary residence permit after I arrive in China on the Q1 visa based only on this relationship factor with my spouse? (or) Do I need to have an employment contract or an enrollment in an institution for getting this permit?

Yes, you can get the temporary residence permit after arriving in China. You don't have to have an employment contract or an enrollment in an institution for getting this permit.
