About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Foreigners residence permit expired, can still apply for Chinese visa?

I want to go back to mainland China to see my family. My plan was to quarantine in Shenzhen and then go see my family.
I am currently working in Hong Kong, and hold a Malaysian passport and a HKID (NOT permanent residence). My mom is Chinese. Last time she helped me get a foreigners residence permit to stay in China, but unfortunately that expired three days ago.

Am I still able to apply for a new visa to go back to mainland China now? I haven't seen my family since January :(

Chris, at this special period, it will be hard for you to get a visa to mainland China if you don't have an official invitation letter from the government.
