About:China Family Reunion Visa

Former Chinese Citizen with Chinese Parents in China

Hi there,
My wife is a former Chinese Citizen, naturalised to British, however her parents still reside in China, they are Chinese Citizens with permanent residence.
It seems that the Q1 Visa would be most suitable for her/us to be able to visit and stay long term, her parents are beginning to age and will require us there to assist them at some point in the future.

My question is around the temporary resident permit that must be applied for on this type of visa, the information you have provided here seems to centre around having been offered a work contract and the company applying or assisting with the application for this residence permit.

If you are not moving to China to work but only to reside and care for elders (o.e. family reunion) is the Q1 the correct type of visa and how is the application for Temporary Residence impacted by this please?

Many thanks

Paul, yes, Q1 is the correct type for you. The process to apply for a temporary residence permit based on Q1 visa is actually similar to the application process for temporary residence permits based on work visas.
