Converting F Visa to Z visa?

I was previously on Z visa and had a valid residence permit expiring November 14. I came to my country Zimbabwe in March and just got a visa to return to China. Surprisingly, I got an F visa this time. Can I work on F visa and convert it to Z visa in China?
