About:China Visa

Zhuhai Macau EE

I have not exited China in 2020. My Q2 duration of stay ends in 30 days, and I think it will be hard to get another extension. I was wondering, if I exit Mainland China in Zhuhai and then re-enter, without ever entering Macau, does this reset my duration of stay? I ask because it appears Macau is still closed off to foreigners, and travel to anywhere else outside mainland China is still difficult. In the past, I treated this trip as a mini-vacation and would stay in Macau for 8 hours each time, and of course it would reset my duration of stay once I returned to Zhuhai.

so long as you havent overstayed or anything else, they currently will extend Q2 visas.. or rather, issue a temporary "stay" extension of 30 to 180 days, after which you continue to apply for extensions. its expensive (upwards of 950 RMB each time) and time consuming (they advise people to apply 10-14 days before expiration!), but this is all that is available for the time being. I was told that once the virus situation is under control and travel is opened up again, they will start to honor/issue the 10 year Q2 again.

also, due to the out of control virus situation in the states I dont think americans are even allowed to enter china yet, full stop, so if you leave you run the risk of being denied entry at the border and getting yourself stuck there.
