Do you mean the 2-month automatic visa extension or something else, dear?

the automatic 60 day extension is just that - automatic - you dont need to do anything. calculate the days and then at least 10 days before those extra days expire go to the immigration office and apply for an extension. do not call because the people on the phone are not actual immigration officers - go there in person and speak directly to an actual immigration officer! if you have a tourist visa they will likely tell you to leave china because there are flights available. other visa types might be granted but they will cancel your current visa and make you pay for a new one that is only for a short term (like 30-90 days).

I was just at the exit entry office. My auto 60-day extension runs out on the 12th. Today is the 2nd. The officer attending to me approved my application for another extension of 30 days but the 30 days start counting from date of application. Which means I have until August 1st to figure out how to leave the country.

the entry exit administration states you must apply at least 10 days prior to expiration of current visa. this applies to any and all visa types and always has been like this. if you wait until the last minute or after the date to do so, youre asking for troubles in the forms of expedited processing fees, fines, application denial, deportation and so on. right now there are no guarantees of any visa extensions or renewals so plan well ahead for the worst outcome. going early rather than last minute gives you a better chance of success (or to explore alternative options) and obviously more time to put plan to action should all else fail and leaving is absolute.
