I have permanent resident card

Dear Consular,

I have been living in China for the last 15 years and received my Permanent Resident Card on June 11, 2019 (My residency permit number is CAN330467120906). I returned to Canada in late June 2019 to take care of my father who had brain cancer. He passed away on December 12, 2019. I have been taking care of my mother since then and had my return flight to China booked for February 7, 2020, but due to the Pandemic, my flight was cancelled. I returned to China for 2 weeks in October, 2019 and wanted to return in February, but wanted to ensure the safety of the citizens of both countries by self-quarantine at home. I was told that in order to keep my status, I must spend 3 months per year in China to fulfill the requirements. I am afraid because of the pandemic that I may not be able to fulfill this requirement. Could you please use your expertise and understanding to direct me. I love China and do not wish to jeoparadize my residency.

Angelo, don't worry, as the situation is special and rare, your permanent residence card won't be cancelled simply because you didn't spend the 3 months. You can go to China ASAP when the situation has been improved.
