About:Marriage Registration in China

Married to Chinese citizen in Singapore; is the marriage recognised in China

Hi, I married a chinese citizen in Singapore and I am a foreigner myself in China. Is the marriage recognised in China? Do we need to do anything in China to get it recognised? What is procedure like? If my chinese spouse didn’t do anything to recognise our marriage in China, does that consider them single in China? Later, hope it won’t happen though but if we do get divorced do I need to get divorced in China or Singapore?

If you want to make your marriage recognised in China, you need to have you marriage certificate authenticated by the Chinese embassy in Singapore. However, even if your spouse doesn't do anything to recognise your marriage in China, they will no consider him or her as single. You need to get divorced in Singapore I think.
