You should rely on Hong Kong based China Travel Service (Hong Kong) because they are authorized to provide you an invitation letter that you will print out and bring it with you.
You should start a correspondence with China Travel Service (Hong Kong) where you will present them with your intended length of stay, your itinerary and whatever you plan to do at Hainan. After your initial email, you will be requested to book some of their services and you will try to use just those services that you really need like an airport transfer. Please, keep in mind that you will have to take some service because this is the way how they get some income by obtaining you an invitation letter.
After you have agreed on all the details, you will be supplied with the invitation letter and you will be able to use it to arrive at Hainan visa free. Please, have in mind that your flight itinerary to and from Hainan are not allowed to be through mainland China.
