About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Residence permit

Hi is there a limit to the amount of time you can be outside China and re-enter on a valid residence permit. I mean can I be outside China for several months and come back in on a residence permit which is still in date. Also if my work permit is expired ( I presume this needs to be updated annually altho there is only a start date . ) But the residence permit is in date is it possible to re-enter china? Thanks

Legally speaking there isn't one but work-based residence permits were never intended to be valid for more than a couple years anyway. Immigration only cares whether you have a valid residence permit, although if your work permit has expired then you will need to restart the process from the scratch (you cannot legally work during this period).
