Residence permit

Hi I understand the residence permit works like a multi entry visa but is it possible to leave China for several months and re-enter on a residence permit if it is still in date? Is there a limited amount of time you can be outside of China for when holding a residence permit? Also there is no expiration date on my work permit card only date of issue. Does this need to be renewed annually and if my permit expires but my residence permit is still in date will I be able to re-enter china? Thanks

Satnam, you can leave for several months and re-enter on a valid residence permit. However, if you hold a work visa, it's not advised to stay too long outside of China. Generally you need to renew your residence permit annually. The expiry dates of your work permit and residence permit should be the same.
