About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Having multiple visas

Hi, I wanted to ask. Can you apply and have multiple Chinese visas in your passport at one time. I ask because during the summer I will be going over to China to volunteer at a summer camp with means I would have a cultural exchange F visa but after the camp has finished I want to stay around and travel. Can I apply for a tourist visa at the same time as the F visa. Have it in my passport and then after the camp finishes, I can just exit the country into let's say to hong kong and then go back into china validating the tourist visa. It doesn't make sense to pay for flights back to the UK just to then flight back a few days later. I've been told that I can just go into hongkong and apply for the tourist visa there but I don't really like the idea of messing doing that. It just makes more sense to sort all visa stuff out before I go. I hope this made sense.

Only one Chinese visa can be held at a time. If your cultural exchange has finished you can remain in China before the indicated duration of stay ends and there won't be a need to get a tourist visa.
If you want to stay in China longer then you can either file for an extension of stay or get a new tourist visa in Hong Kong.
