About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Eligible for 144 hour visa

Itinerary:

MANCHESTER UK - BEIJING (return ticket)

On arrival to Beijing we have a separate ticket transfer to Seoul 3 hours after landing - is this part eligible for the 24hr free visa?

We then intend to travel from SK to Japan for 2 weeks. Then a flight from OSAKA JAPAN - BEIJING and staying in Beijing for 120 hours.

Then we will use our original return flight BEIJING - MANCHESTER UK - is this leg of the journey eligible for 144 free visa?

Thanks in advance

There is no such thing as a "free visa". It is a "transit without visa", and you should use this terminology to avoid confusion at check-in, especially as you have separate tickets. Your route qualifies for transit without visa. The only potential problem with your plan is that 3 hours at Beijing doesn't leave much time if anything goes wrong, especially if you have checked luggage. Check-in for your flight to Seoul might close one hour before departure, so you would only really have 2 hours for your self-connection.
