About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Am I eligible for the 144 hour travel as it is business travel?

Hi,
I am planning a trip where I will be flying on the following dates - starting from UK

23rd Feb -> Singapore
26th Feb -> Hong Kong
1st Mar -> Shanghai
5th Mar -> London

Would this qualify for the free 144 hour VISA or should I not take the risk and apply for a full VISA - Asking about the Shanghai aspect?

Also, I assume I do not need a VISA for Hong Kong - Is that true?

Thanks,
Jay

UK citizens don't need a visa for HK.

You don't need a Chinese visa as long as your Shanghai to London flight is not via another mainland China city or Hong Kong, and if your passport is from one of the 53 qualifying countries. And it is not a "free 144 hour visa". It is a 144 hours transit WITHOUT visa, and you do not get a visa at all.
