About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is there a limit for the 24 TWOV?

We plan to take this route this June, Manila-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Beijing-Manila. Can we do the 24 hour TWOV when entering both Shanghai from Manila and Beijing from Hong Kong. We’ll arrive in Shanghai on the 16th and arrive in Beijing on the 20th. We’re Philippine Passport holders by the way. Thanks!

There is no limit, but technically speaking the 24-hour TWOV does not mean you get to enter Mainland China. That is up to of the immigration officer and the computer system they use. If you don't seek to enter Mainland China then you won't have any problems.

What do you mean? We could be granted the 24 TWOV but we need to stay at the airport?

Thanks for the response by the way, super helpful.

24 hour visa free transit requires you to stay in the international transit area. You can then apply for every permit to leave the airport which is not guaranteed. It depends how immigration feels that day. Shanghai is usually the strictest where you need to stay overnight with confirmed hotel reservation to leave the airport. They may decide to keep people inside solely based on nationality, there is no way to know in advance
