About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Canadian Citizen travelling to Nepal

I am a Canadian Citizen, with a Canadian passport and I will be traveling to Nepal in April of 2020.
I have 2 stops in China. I wanted to make 100% sure if I do or do not require a Transit Visa.
I have gotten so many different answers.

Here are my flight details:
I fly from Vancouver Canada (YVR) to Shanghai China(PVG).
I have layover of 2 hours 30 minutes.
Then I fly from Shanghai China(PVG) to Kunming China(KMG).
I have layover of 2 hours 40 minutes.
Then I fly from Kunming China(KMG) to Kathmandu Nepal(KTM).

My returning flight details are:
I fly from Kathmandu Nepal(KTM) to Kunming China(KMG).
I have layover of 8 hours 10 minutes.
Then I fly from Kunming China(KMG) to Shanghai China(PVG).
I have layover of 2 hours 20 minutes.
Then I fly from Shanghai China(PVG) to Vancouver Canada (YVR).

If I have to apply in person for a Visa, this really complicates things as It's 1600km to the visa application office.

Chinese consulates are the totally wrong place to ask for such things, the chinese immigration is responsible for visa free transit, not a embassy/consulate.

You can either call the Kunming/Shanghai immigration or have a look at TIMATIC to get the same information you got here.
