German Citizen VOA Shenzhen airport

Hey, I have a flight from Thailand to Shenzhen and was hoping to get the 5 day VOA at the Shenzhen airport and go to Hongkong from there. Is it possible to get the VOA at the airport? I’m confused because on another website it said you can only get it at 2 land borders coming from hk. Thankyou for your help

Okay thank you very much! I will buy the ferry ticket then as proof that I’m leaving SZ but actually it is more convenient for me to enter hk over the lo wu / Luohu border. Can I do that as well after spending 25 h in SZ ?

Part one:

This website is not up to date. In reality, there is no Shenzhen VOA facility at Shenzhen airport or in other words, you are not allowed to take a flight to Shenzhen if you plan to rely on a Shenzhen VOA.

Anyway, if you intend to travel on the itinerary:

Thailand - Shenzhen - Hong Kong

Then you are advised to use 144 hour visa free transit. This is much better option because when traveling on this option, you are allowed to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit in the entire Guangdong province and you are not limited to just Shenzhen city.

Anyway, to be eligible for this option, you will have to book a ferry ticket online, in advance through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company website. You will book a ticket for the route Shenzhen Shekou to Hong Kong Macau ferry terminal. After you have booked your ticket, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and bring it with you. This e-confirmation will be your proof that you will be in a real transit and also you will use it to collect your real, paper ferry ticket at Shekou terminal. Please, have in mind that you have to stay within Guangdong province for at least 25 hours to be eligible for this 144 hour visa free transit option. Also, you will have to use exactly that ferry you have bought your tickets for.

Part two:

So, you will declare at check-in in Thailand that you will travel to Hong Kong via Shenzhen using 144 hour visa free transit. After a short check of your tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon arrival in Shenzhen, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit counter. There you will fill out a blue form. Please, have in mind to book at least the first overnight in Shenzhen and to bring with you a confirmation of that accommodation booking. Shortly after, you will get a sticker in your passport and you will be allowed to exit the airport and to stay and travel within the entire Guangdong province for the following 6 days.

No, you are not allowed to do that. The only option is exactly the one that I have explained. From Shenzhen to Hong Kong when traveling on 144 hour visa free transit, you can use only a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau port by buying a ticket through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company website. I perfectly understand that an overland crossing would be more convenient, but unfortunately you cannot use it in this visa free transit option.
