USA to China To Japan to USA Visa?

Hello. Do I need a visa for the following trip? USA to Bejing arriving on the 13th. Then a trip on the 16th to Japan til the 18th back to Bejing. Then back to USA on Monday the 20th.

To summarize. USA to China (3days). Then China to Japan and back to China (2days) then to USA.
The USA to China trip will be on one ticket. The China to Japan will be on another ticket but I will have all of them when we arrive. Do we need any type of visa? If so i'll just get for the whole duration of the trip. Thanks
