About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Two One Way Flights qualify for Layover Stay in Beijing

Can I book a flight Hong Kong to Beijing, China on one airline (Air China)? and book another flight from Beijing to Las Angeles on another airline(United)? Arrival and Exit within 72 hours count for the 72 Hour Layover Stay? This would be two one way tickets booked separately.

Yes, you are perfectly allowed to travel on separate tickets and this option is allowed since the very beginning of this specific travel rule.

By the way, your itinerary is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit that has replaced 72 hour visa free transit in Beijing a couple of years ago.

You will print out your flight tickets and also your accommodation booking confirmation for at least the first overnight upon your arrival in Beijing.
