About:China Visa Application in UK

Finger print collection

I am confused, in some places I see that the collection of finger prints is mandatory and we must visit a processing centre (London for us) and on this page it states everything is completed by post.
We are on a cruise calling at Shanghai then Tianjin and Dalian on successive days so I understand that a transit visa is not acceptable.

Alan, as you will take a cruise, so I want to know if Shanghai is the first port of call in mainland China. If it is and you will take the same cruise to leave China, you can book a tour in Shanghai in advance so that you won't need a China visa.

In case that you still want to apply for visa, you need to go to the CVASC for fingerprint collection and application submission. As you can see, this page is a little outdated.
