About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US citizen traveling to Phillipines

I'm traveling from Germany, via Istanbul, via Chengdu, via Shenzhen to Manila. I have no checked baggage and will not be leaving the transit area in any of the airports. I have an 18 layover in Shenzhen. Do I need a transit Visa?

I do have a German residence permit in my passport.

Total time of less than 24 hours. According to the information I was given on the PRC official website, I am eligible for VOA (if I leave transit zone) or TWOV ifi don't leave transit zone. I am travelling with no checked baggage so will not be leaving transit zone.

Randy, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare in Istanbul that you will travel to the Philippines via China using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of your tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon arrival in Chengdu, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. This permit will be granted to you to allow you your next flight that is considered as a domestic one. You will also clear an immigration in Chengdu.

Upon arrival in Shenzhen, you will exit the airport, explore the city, have a couple of hours in your hotel and after that you will proceed to the Philippines.
