About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour visa waiver

Hi we fly into Shanghai stay one night in a hotel then the following day join our cruise which stays overnight in Shanghai then cruise for two weeks and then fly home from Hong Kong do we quality for the visa if so what is the procedure?

You are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit (72 hour visa free transit has been discontinued in Shanghai) in Shanghai under the following conditions:

- Your flight from, I assume, UK to Shanghai should not have any additional landing within mainland China and in the country where your cruise will have its first port of call, immediately after Shanghai
- Your cruise is not allowed to have its first port of call, immediately after Shanghai, in mainland China

If the above conditions are fulfilled, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area and you don't need any kind of visa.
