About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Only in Shanghai for 20 hours can I get the visa at the airport?

Hello, from reading this it sounds like I will be eligible for the transit visa however I would like to confirm as a friend said he did not get this a year ago, I am flying from Sydney to Pudong and then Pudong to London. Please could you clarify for me. Many thanks danielle

You can't get a transit visa at any chinese airport.
But you're fine for the 24h twov and don't need a visa.
What can happen is, they don't give you a temporary exit permit if you wish to leave the airport.
But with a layover of 20 hours, I'm sure you'll get a permit to stay in a hotel overnight.
Just print out your flight documents and the hotel reservation and you should be fine.
