About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Thailand to Beijing

Hi.

I have a DRC (Congo) passport and will be flying from Thailand and stopping in Beijing for 12 hours. Will I need a Transit Visa or can I apply for a permit in China?

Tash, you are allowed to perform your travel plan if you intend just to travel via Beijing to a third country. In other words, if your itinerary is, for example:

Thailand - Beijing - South Korea

You are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Thailand that you will travel to X country via Beijing using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of your tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your landing in Beijing, you will clear a security and after a shortened form of immigration check, you will proceed to your boarding gate. In case if you intend to exit the airport, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. Here you can expect two outcomes. To be allowed to exit or not to be allowed because the issuing of temporary entry permit is always upon a discretion of immigration authorities on a day of arrival.
