About:China Transit Visa

Can I apply for a transit visa ?

Hello,
I a a French citizen, I will arrive in Beijing via the transmongolian train, go to Shangai (in less than 6 days) and leave China from there by ferry. Then I'll come back (2 weeks later) via ferry to Shanghai, and I will catch trains to go to Vietnam. Should I get a transit visa for the first part of my trip in China ? Or could I get a unique double entry tourist visa for the whole trip ?
That you for your help

Traveling on the trans-Mongolian train needs a visa, no exceptions.

You need a double-entry tourist visa as transit visas are IIRC not valid for more than 72 hours.
