About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hr Transit via Guangzhou airport - Nigerian Passport

Hi,
I hold a Nigerian Passport but a resident of Australia. I will be transiting through Guangzhou airport to South Africa with a layover of 13hrs at Guangzhou airport.
I will be connecting with a different airline at Guangzhou airport, that means I may have to pick my luggage to check into the new airline.
Do i require a transit visa for this?

Leo, your itinerary would be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit, but both of us know that there are no flights between Guangzhou and South Africa! In other words, you will have to have at least one additional stop somewhere between Guangzhou and South Africa and I assume that this will be in Ethiopia. OK, if that stop is outside mainland China, then fine, otherwise it could be a bit problematic. Please, have in mind that the Chinese immigration authorities will ask you for a visa for your next destination.
