About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

I have to get a birth certificate legalised. It has been issued by the General Registry Office in Uk

My son has recently married a Chinese lady. We have been living in Xiamen for 10 years. My residency permit expires at end of January 2020. I'm told that I can apply for family relationship type visa but first I have to prove that he is my son. At present he has a year's residency on account of his wife having residency. I have his birth certificate which was issued in Belfast, Northern Ireland by the General Registry Office. I'm told I need to get this legalised. How do I do this without having to return to UK?
