About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am an Indonesian planning to go to Hainan Island with a 2.5 hour transit in Guangzhou,China

I am an Indonesian planning to go to Hainan Island who i understand offers Indonesian citizen free visa for 30 days. I will use China Southern Airlines on 26 Dec 2019.
Since i will have transit in Guangzhou for about 2.5 hours - do i need the regular tourist china visa or am i eligible for the 24 hour visa free transit or do i have to apply for a transit visa instead? please respond.

Hainan 30 day visa free is not available when entering via mainland china. You need a tourist visa or make entry directly from another country such as Hong Kong. You cannot exit through mainland china either.
