About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

conection Kunming Changshui International

Hi im going to Luang Prabang, Laos, departing from Mandalay, Myanmar, but I will have to stop in Kunming to change aircraft. I will have to collect my lugagge and do the check in again. These two flights will be done by China Eastern Airlines. Do I need a visa?

No, you don't need any kind of visa because you are eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit in relation to the length of your total transit time in Kunming. Basically, if you don't have any additional landing within China beside Kunming, you can stay visa free for up to 144 hours.

You will just print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. You will also declare at check-in in Mandalay that you will travel to Luang Prabang via Kunming using 24 or 144 hour visa free transit. 24 if your entire stay in Kunming will be less than 24 hours and 144 if your stay will be longer than 24 hours.

Upon arrival in Kunming, you will approach 24 or 144 hour visa free transit counter, fill out the form and basically, that's it.
