Unfortunately, Fuzhou is still considered as an airport that does not support 24 hour visa free transit, although more and more passengers successfully travel through it on 24 hour visa free transit. It appears that we are really close to the official removal of Fuzhou from the list of those airports that don't support this visa free transit option, but until then, there will be nobody so brave (or crazy) to play with your time and money and to tell you that you will successfully travel through Fuzhou using 24 hour visa free transit. In reality, if you manage to board the plane, in your case in Bangkok, you will be definitely granted a temporary entry permit in Fuzhou and you will be allowed to normally proceed your journey to Los Angeles. Anyway, the problem could appear in Bangkok where a member of airport staff can take a look at Timatic where he/she will see that Fuzhou is mentioned as non eligible airport. OK, you can ask them to call their colleagues in Fuzhou and if they do that, you will be allowed to board the plane, but if they deny to do that and they can do that, you will be denied boarding. This is the real problem.
So, you are advised or to visit Suvarnabhumi airport, the check-in counter with XiamenAir ground staff during the time of check-in for the flight for Fuzhou and to ask them about your eligibility or to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.
