About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Airline change with 3 hour layover at Guangzhou

Hello,

I am reaching Guangzhou at 2:50 am and my next flight to Bangkok is at 5:45 am from the same terminal, but with different airlines. I have to go out of immigration and check-in and come back again. I am an Indian citizen.
My question-
I believe I am eligible for the 24-hour free entry and can take a temporary entry permit to go out of immigrations and to the check-in counters. How much time does it usually take to get the permit? Is 3 hours enough for me?
Also, I do not have any check-in luggage.

I am a bit confused about the process and hence wanted to clarify.

Hello Zupan,

Thanks a lot for your explanation. It really cleared my doubts and worries.
For your information, I will be traveling from Osaka (Japan) to Guangzhou by Spring Airlines and then from Guangzhou to Bangkok by AirAsia.

Kanishka, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you should not worry too much. The layover of 3 hours is quite fine that you accomplish all the formalities. Since you are flying on different airlines, you will have to approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. You will definitely manage to do all the formalities, but try to be agile and fast. You will rest later at your boarding gate, waiting for your onward flight.

By the way, you didn't mention from where will you arrive to Guangzhou, but I will assume that you are arriving from some country different than both Thailand and mainland China.
