About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Shenzhen entry via Airport Ferry Terminal (Fuyong Pier)

Is it possible to get the144h when I fly from Taiwan to Hongkong Airport and travel directly from Skypier (not entering Hongkong immigration and customs as described on the airport information side) via ferry to Shenzhen Fuyong Pier at Shenzhen Airport?
The return trip would be in opposite order with the ferry to Honkong Airport, leaving for Amsterdam.
1. I think one issue is the transit from Hongkong Airport to Shenzhen. Is it recognized as direct arrival from Taiwan because I technically did not enter Hongkong territory (no customs and immigration when leaving the airport via skypier)?
2. A second uncertainty is that the Hongkong Airport information side mentions that I will not enter Shenzhen Airport directly. Instead there is Customs and Immigration at the Shenzhen Fuyong Pier and I can take the free shuttle bus to airport afterwards. So is this entry via Fuyong Pier seen as immigration via Shenzhen airport according to the visafree regulations? As i read on the internet Fuyong Pier is also known as Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal and located next to the airport.

Frank, your thoughts and plans are very logical and they would be really useful if only Fuyong is an eligible arrival port to Guangdong province. Unfortunately, it is not. Just to present you, these are eligible arrival and departure ports for Guangdong province:

The three arrival ports include:
• Baiyun International Airport (CAN)

The 32 departure ports include:
• Five airports
o Baiyun International Airport (CAN)

o Zhanjiang Airport (ZHA)
o Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport (SWA)
• Four rail ports
o Tianhe (Guangzhoudong Railway Station)
o Dongguan (Changping Railway Station)
o Foshan (Foshan Railway Station)
o Zhaoqing (Zhaoqing Railway Station)
• Eight road ports
o Shenzhen: Shatoujiao Port, Wenjindu Port, Huanggang Port, Luohu Port, Shenzhen Bay Port, Futian Port

As you can see, you can enter Guangdong province, when using any kind of visa free transit scheme, only through three airports. In other words, you have to literally fly to any of the mentioned three airports to be eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit.

One of your options is to take a direct flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, although I personally dislike this option because the flight prices on this extremely short route are, in my opinion, too high.

Also, if your intention is to stay only within Shenzhen city boundaries, you can perfectly apply for a 5 day Shenzhen VOA that comes at the price of 168 CNY for German citizens. Anyway, to be allowed to apply for this VOA, you should take a ferry to Shenzhen Shekou and not to Fuyong port because Shenzhen Shekou has an office for issuing Shenzhen VOA. Also, you should take care about VOA office opening times: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 17:00. In case that your flight arrives too late or too early, you are advised to take a bus + train to reach Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing where you will apply for a Shenzhen VOA.
