About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Europe -> Guangzhou -> train to Hong Kong

I'm flying from Europe to Guangzhou, and after 2 days would like to go to Hong Kong before leaving for Malaysia.
Am I allowed to get the 144 visa free transit if leaving Guangzhou to Hong Kong by train?
My trip would be:
Europe - Guangzhou - Hong Kong (by train) - Malaysia

You must have your confirmed rail ticket in your hand when you check-in for your flight in Europe. High Speed Rail is not permitted.
