About:China Student Visa

when does a x1 visa become valid if its issued prior to when its needed? (already in china)

if i get my x1 visa for 4 year university study in december but the program doesnt start until march, can i stay in china? im currently here with an x2 visa. can i have more than one visa at a time?

You can't have two visas at a time. However, when you convert your X2 visa to an X1 visa and sucessfully get it, the X1 visa will become valid at that time. You just need to go to the local Exit and Entry Administration to get a temporary residence permit as soon as possible.
