About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

In and out different airlines

I am flying Hong Kong -> Beijing -> Singapore but my flight in from Hong Kong will be Dragon air and flight to Singapore, Singapore Airlines. Is this still considered "transiting" even if the airline in and out are different?

Separate tickets and different carriers have always been ok.
