About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

A-B-A Itinerary

I know the page says you need an A-B-C country to qualify, but does it work with an A-B-A itinerary? I'll be coming from the Philippines and then returning there after China.

No, it's not a transit.
You need to travel through a third country before returning to Philippines. It can even be a transfer of flights In a third country as 1 hr and 3 days are treated equally.
